Pamela Anderson isn’t worried about ageing – in fact, she's looking forward to it. The former Baywatch star has opened up about her thoughts on getting older on a new podcast, revealing that she “can’t wait”.
The 55-year-old, who is the subject of a new Netflix documentary, Pamela, a Love Story, said: “I can't wait to see myself old.
“I always said I'd recognise myself when I was old in the mirror,” she told actor Dax Shepard on his podcast, Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard. “I want to let my hair go kind of natural grey, put my little straw hat on, don't wear make-up. I mean, that's my comfortable kind of state.”
She added that she thinks a lot of “classic beauties” in Hollywood have a “really hard time with ageing”, but because Anderson has never viewed herself that way, she thinks it’s easier for her to embrace the ageing process.
“I always felt a little funny looking, so I don't think it's as hard for me, and I don't want to chase that, and I don't want to do all the crazy s*** to myself,” she explained.
Anderson, who has also released her memoir, Love, Pamela, this week, said that she felt there was a double standard when it came to women wearing makeup.
She explained that when she was younger people told her not to wear make-up as she was “too pretty”, but now that she’s older she’s expected to wear it.
“When I was wearing make-up before, everyone told me not to wear make-up. Now I'm old, and now I just want to kind of let it happen,” she added.
Speaking to People magazine of her new documentary and memoir, Anderson said: “It's just one girl's story of how I made it through: a small-town girl going to Los Angeles and just going through all the wild and crazy adventures I did and then circling back and going home.
“I had no idea how much anger I had inside, or how therapeutic it was going to be for not just me, but for people around me, like my mother. It's been a healing process. I'm so happy to share it and hopefully people will be inspired.”
