It’s the beginning of the end for “Ozark,” as Netflix has revealed the premiere date for the first half of the show’s fourth and final season. The streaming service also unveiled a new teaser for Part 1 of Season 4, giving us some insight into where Marty Byrde’s dark journey will ultimately lead him.
“Money is, at its essence, that measure of a man’s choices,” Jason Bateman’s Marty says in a narration at the opening of the video, which you can view above. The teaser becomes even more ominous when Marty’s wife, Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney), states, “Sometimes, if you don’t move forward, you die.”
As Netflix previously said, the fourth and final season of “Ozark” will be released in two parts, each consisting of seven episodes. On Tuesday, it was revealed that Part 1 of Season 4 will debut on Jan. 21, 2022.
Per the streaming service’s own description for the series: “Ozark” is a thrilling drama set in the present-day and follows the Byrde family’s journey from their normal, suburban Chicago life to their dangerous criminal enterprise in the Ozarks, Missouri. The series explores capitalism, family dynamics, and survival through the eyes of (anything but) ordinary Americans.
Not much is known about the plot for Season 4 of “Ozark” — though this previously released teaser indicates the season will pick up right where Season 3 left off.
Along with Bateman and Linney, “Ozark” Season 4 stars Julia Garner, Sofia Hublitz, Skylar Gaertner, Charlie Tahan, Jessica Frances Dukes, Lisa Emery, Felix Solis, Damian Young, Alfonso Herrera, Adam Rothenberg, John Bedford Lloyd, Joseph Sikora, Bruno Bichir, CC Castillo, Katrina Lenk, Bruce Davison, Ali Stroker and Veronica Falcón.
Chris Mundy returns as showrunner, writer and executive producer. Bateman, Mark Williams, John Shiban, Patrick Markey and Bill Dubuque serve as executive producers. Linney serves as co-executive producer.
