Owner's Delight as Baby Gecko Wriggles Out of Egg

The owner of a crested gecko hatchling squealed with delight as the tiny reptile wriggled out of its egg recently.

Abigail Johnson, who lives in Wallasey, told Storyful that the hatchling, named Pumpkin, was the only one of six fertile eggs she had that hatched.

“I stopped seeing movement inside the egg and after waiting a day and also seeing a sign of it trying to break out I decided to help by gently scratching the side of the egg with a pin. Just before the video was taken it began to shake, which is when I put it down and recorded,” Johnson said.

“The baby is doing amazingly! It’s gained weight and I have decided to name it Pumpkin,” she said.

She added that she had one remaining fertile egg incubating.
