Owl Recovers Following Highway Collision in California

An owl that collided with a car has recovered and been released back into the wild thanks to a conscientious California motorist.

The owl hit Suzanne Friedman’s windshield while she was driving near Pigeon Point. She said she turned around and pulled over, and found the bird was alive, but “dazed and confused”.

Friedman decided to take the bird to a falconer friend a couple of hours’ drive away in Fremont.

The owl was given the name Chance, she said, and stayed with her friend for six days before it was released on January 23 near to where it was hit.

“If I didn’t get her out of the road she surely would have been ran over by a car,” Friedman told Storyful. Credit: Suzanne Friedman via Storyful
