Owl Makes Itself at Home in St Louis House

A Missouri man got quite a hoot out of the unexpected feathered intruder he found in his home on November 18.

George Sells, a former reporter with KTVI news, posted video footage to Twitter of an owl nestling in a torchiere lamp in his home in the Kirkwood area of St Louis.

Sells told local news that he came home to the unlikely visitor after picking up his children from school.

“I covered news for 25 years. I never covered an owl in somebody’s house,” he said.

Sells called pest control after finding the bird. Tom Fitzgerald of Rottler Pest and Lawn Solutions told reporters that the owl likely came down through an open fireplace flue.

“The flue was open. So chances are the owl was hunting and fell down the chimney,” Fitzgerald said.
