A fire burning six miles south of Mount Rushmore in Custer State Park was 25 percent contained and had torched 60 acres as of Thursday, June 25, reports said.
A press release from Governor Kristi Noem’s office said on Thursday that 117 firefighters, two helicopters, and one airplane were battling the blaze, named for Mine Draw Road, near where the fire started.
Efforts were being made to keep the fire north of Shop Draw Road, east of Highway 87, and west of Mine Draw Road, the release said.
