Outbound Passengers Pack New Orleans Airport as Hurricane Ida Nears Louisiana's Coast

Airlines announced flight cancellations on Saturday, August 28, as evacuating residents filled a New Orleans airport ahead of Hurricane Ida’s expected landfall.

This footage filmed by Twitter user @kemcents shows the crowded scenes at a security checkpoint in the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.

The airport tweeted that all departing and arriving flights scheduled for Sunday would be canceled due to the hurricane.

Heavy traffic was also reported leaving New Orleans, as a Transportation Security Administration spokesperson warned of severe roadway traffic and evacuations “intensifying lines in area airports.”
