An Ottawa man is facing a slew of charges, including multiple counts of attempted murder, after a violent incident in Orléans earlier this month that ended with him being shot by police.

The full list of charges against 33-year-old Tyler Low includes:

  • Four counts of attempted murder.

  • Five counts of aggravated assault.

  • Twelve counts of assault with a weapon.

  • One count of assaulting a peace officer.

  • Two counts of carrying a concealed weapon.

  • Seven counts of mischief causing property damage.

  • Twenty counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

  • One count of obstructing police.

The charges are in relation to a Nov. 16 incident on Place d'Orléans Drive near St. Joseph Boulevard in Ottawa.

At about 11:15 p.m., police said they received calls about an individual with a weapon who was assaulting people and damaging vehicles in the area.

After a violent confrontation with police, Low was shot multiple times and transported to hospital with serious injuries and is currently in stable condition, according to Ottawa police and Ontario's Special Investigations Unit (SIU). He was also shot with two stun guns, the SIU said.

The independent civilian agency is investigating. It did not say if the man was carrying a weapon at the time he was shot.

The SIU investigates incidents involving police where there's been a death, serious injury or sexual assault, or if shots have been fired.

Ottawa police said Wednesday a total of five civilians were injured in the incident. Some of those injuries were serious but later deemed non-life-threatening, police added.
