Oscars 2021: How to watch the ceremony in the UK

The 93rd Academy Awards is taking place this weekend at the tail end of 2021's delayed award season.

The coronavirus has undoubtedly affected the proceedings across most ceremonies with an uptick in virtual attendance in particular, but the Oscars have taken a different stance as organisers have said there won't be any Zoom calls.

This year's ceremony is based across two locations in Los Angeles, Union Station, the main railway station in LA, with some elements taking place at the Dolby Theatre where the event has typically been held in recent years.

While coverage kicks off on Sunday afternoon in the US, over in the UK it will be later in the evening due to the time difference.

UK viewers are able to tune in on Sky Cinema's Oscars channel which will begin airing coverage from 10pm on Sunday ahead of the ceremony starting at 1am (BST) on Monday 26 April.

The ceremony, which typically lasts between three and four hours, will also be available for streaming via NOW.

Those hoping to tune in who aren't already Sky Cinema customers can sign up on Sky's website while existing Sky TV customers can sign-up for an extra £11 a month.

Now TV is currently offering a seven day free trial for its Sky Cinema Pass which is usually £11.99 a month.

It will also be the second consecutive year the event has gone without a host but will have an ensemble of presenters including Brad Pitt, Renee Renée Zellweger and Zendaya.

The British talent nominated at the prestigious awards include Promising Young Woman director Emerald Fennell, Judas and the Black Messiah actor Daniel Kaluuya and Pieces of a Woman star Vanessa Kirkby.
