Oscar-winning "Parasite" to be published as English graphic novel


Want to do more than just watch "Parasite"? You'll get to read it too soon.

28 Feb – In celebration of its one-year anniversary since premiering at Cannes, the Oscar-winning "Parasite" is set to be released again, this time in the form of an English-language graphic novel.

Titled "Parasite: A Graphic Novel in Storyboards", its 304 pages are made up of director Bong Joon Ho's official storyboards, which are translated from Korean to English.


The graphic novel can now be found on several online retail stores, in hardcover or Kindle version, though it will only be officially released on 19 May 2020.

Description for the graphic novel stated that as part of his unique process, the director storyboarded each shot of the movie prior to filming every scene. The storyboards, accompanied by the film's dialogue, capture the story in its entirety.

The Oscar-winning director has also written a foreword and provided early concept drawings and photos from the set, taking the reader even deeper into the vision that gave rise to the stunning cinematic achievement that is "Parasite".

The South Korean film made its world premiere on 21 May 2019 at Cannes Film Festival.

It has since gone on to become not only the first Korean movie to be nominated at the Oscars, but also the first non-English movie to win Best Film at the prestigious awards ceremony.
