New Orleans Woman Checks on Evacuated Friends' Houses After Hurricane Ida

A New Orleans woman has documented Hurricane Ida’s landfall and the destruction left behind in the Lakeview neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana, from August 29 to August 31.

Penny Pounds recorded the videos and shared them to her TikTok account so that friends and neighbors could see their streets.

On the evening of August 29, she observed standing water on her street. Later on, part of Pounds’s fence was gone due to the storm.

Over the following days, Pounds and her husband Paul drove around Lakeview to check up on the homes of friends who had evacuated. Credit: Penny Pounds via Storyful
