NASA Says Fireball Over Michigan Was Satellite Reentry, Not Meteor

NASA said on October 20 that a “bright, long-lasting” fireball reported in the early hours in US Midwestern states was caused by the “reentry and fragmentation of a satellite” rather than a “natural object”, amid reports of a meteor.

This footage, filmed by Twitter user @Dizzard, who said it was taken in Ann Arbor, Michigan, shows a fireball trailing through the night sky. The source attributed the phenomenon to a meteor, before NASA later confirmed it was not. Credit: @Dizzard via Storyful
