Well, it’s a wonderful day to be alive. Mere hours ago, it was announced that the original Broadway production of "Hamilton," filmed live on stage at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, is finally coming to screens everywhere via Disney+ this July 3. Anyone who missed out on the original cast’s performance and has still been dying to see any version of it can now watch the OG musical from the comfort of their bed.

The official social media channels of both Disney+ and the Broadway musical shared the news today. Initially, Lin-Manuel Miranda's Tony- and Pulitzer-winning musical was announced for a theatrical release in October 2021, according to Playbill. Yes, that means we’re getting it more than a year in advance!

“No other artistic work in the last decade has had the cultural impact of ‘Hamilton’—an inspiring and captivating tale told and performed in a powerfully creative way,” Robert A. Iger, executive chairman of The Walt Disney Company, said in a statement. “In light of the extraordinary challenges facing our world, this story about leadership, tenacity, hope, love, and the power of people to unite against the forces of adversity is both relevant and impactful.”

If you think you've run out of movies and shows to watch, you now have this renowned musical to add to your list. Sure, a Broadway performance is way more magical when it’s experienced in an actual crowded theater, but this is definitely the next best way to experience it. Plus, the OG cast gave its last performance in 2016, so you’d need a time machine to catch it IRL again. And better yet, you can rewatch the filmed version without paying the price of another ticket!
