Oprah, Victoria Beckham, Miley Cyrus Lead Epic “British Vogue” Cover of 40 Iconic Stars: 'Dedicated to Women'
The massive cover shoot marks editor in chief Edward Enninful's last in his post at the magazine
Edward Enninful wanted to go out with a bang — and all his buds.
The British Vogue editor in chief marked the end of his tenure at the magazine with a massive cover shoot for the March 2024 issue with 40 stars. Yes, 40. He gathered women from every corner of the celebrity world to be a part of the most epic photo shoot the magazine has ever seen, and they all came together on one day in New York this past December.

"When it came to my last issue, I knew the cover would be dedicated to women. Of course! Women have shaped British Vogue for close to 108 years now, and have certainly informed every moment of my six and a half year tenure here, to say nothing of leading and guiding me through my entire life," Enninful wrote for British Vogue.
He called upon 40 people from British Vogue's storied history from while he was at his post at the magazine, and everyone showed up. He wrote that he held his breath "for weeks" after sending out the asks, but they came, as did photographers Steven Meisel and Ned Rogers, as well as hair creative director Guido Palau and team and makeup artist Pat McGrath and team.
Oprah Winfrey, Jane Fonda, Miley Cyrus, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, Kaia Gerber, Victoria Beckham, Dua Lipa, Gigi Hadid, Salma Hayek, Iman and so many more came together to celebrate Enninful's final cover feature and to celebrate the power of women and British Vogue's history.
“Women understand the importance and power of the collective,” Fonda shared with the magazine of working with the outlet on this shoot and in the past.
“I love being around younguns. I love their energy, I love their spirit,” Naomi Campbell added of the shoot in New York.
Enninful wrote in the magazine that Crawford and daughter Gerber carpooled to the shoot together, as did Evangelista and Hayek, as Hayek had stayed the night with Evangelista the night before. (Hayek is stepmom to Evangelista's son Augie and Evangelista has been open about how helpful the actress has been when it came to the model's health over the last few years.) Enninful even noted that they made sure to stay on schedule so that Hadid could get home to daughter Khai.

The cover stars all spoke about some of their favorite of Enninful's moments with the magazine, and many of them gushed about his first cover, which stared Adwoa Aboah. Aboah, who also took part in this epic final cover, said it felt like an "absolute whirlwind" to be that first cover star.
The other stars cited plenty of magazines in Enninful's six years at the outlet, including Stormzy and Rihanna, but Oprah, ever the icon, highlighted her own cover for August 2018 as Enninful's best.

“We are getting better at celebrating women of all ages,” Turlington said of the women-forward feature in the magazine.
Hayek adds, “This shoot, it’s a statement of sisterhood."
Crawford, who had her daughter with her for the shoot (one of two mother-daughter duos — Kate and Lila Moss were also on hand for the shoot!), also spoke highly of the work British Vogue has done to empower women in its pages. But she still believes there's plenty of work to be done.
“I think where we can do better in 2024 is recognising we’re more the same than we are different,” she said.

As he signs off from his post as editor in chief, Enninful writes in his final letter from the editor, "So here it is: my 76th and final edition of Vogue, six and a half years and 153 cover stars later, including the 40 legendary women who feature on this cover. It’s been an extraordinary ride and an absolute honour. As I step into my new role, as Condé Nast’s global creative and cultural advisor for Vogue, I’m determined to keep championing the incredible array of voices in fashion and media, and ensure we keep the energy explosion of the last few years going. We always say it, because it always needs to be said: there is a great deal yet to be done.”
