Ongoing Winter Weather Dumps Record-Breaking Snow in California's Sierra Nevada Mountains

Thousands of customers remained without power on December 29, after strong winter weather brought record snow to parts of Northern California.

Pacific Gas and Electric reported over 5,000 customers in the city of Colfax were without power as of Wednesday afternoon.

The UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab measured a total of 210 inches of snow in the Sierra Nevada mountains in December so far, a record for the month.

The National Weather Service warned of further snowfall across the region into Wednesday night.
