Oil execs pressed on climate pledge in House hearing

After repeatedly being asked by Rep. Carolyn Maloney, a Democrat from New York, to "no longer spend any money either directly or indirectly to oppose efforts to reduce emissions and climate change," several Big Oil execs, including BP America CEO David Lawler declined to agree to the pledge.

The oil execs have been called to testify before a Democratic-led House committee as the U.S. Congress opened a year's worth of investigations into whether the industry deceived Americans about its role in climate change.
