The Official Royal Website Just Had the Most Shocking Glitch on Their Homepage
If, for some unknown reason, you found yourself lurking on the royal family's official website this week (royal.uk), you might have noticed that the homepage was changed. Specifically, changed to include the word "hospice" right at the tippy top, above a photo of King Charles' face.
Opps... For some bizarre reason the header on the @RoyalFamily website now says "hospice"... Why?
And why isn't there a check before things got live on the website? pic.twitter.com/oaDlNjCVVX— Gert's Royals (@Gertsroyals) January 22, 2025
Royal watchers were the first to notice the mistake, which was quickly fixed once people started tweeting about it. The site now looks like this, for what it's worth:
Before you jump to conclusions about what's happening over in the royal family's IT department / read into things, People points out that Queen Camilla actually visited a hospice on January 21. Meanwhile, the folks at royal.uk wrote an entry about her time there with the headline "The Queen visits Great Western Hospital and Prospect Hospice in Wiltshire." They also noted that "Her Majesty The Queen unveiled a plaque to officially open the new Emergency Department at Great Western Hospital in Swindon and the Evans Education Centre at Prospect Hospice, Wroughton."
In other words, the website was writing content about a hospice visit right as this mistake was made. So, given the timing of it all, it seems more than likely that this was simply a glitch when the site was being updated to include Camilla's outing—though no one at the palace has spoken out to confirm as much, so...guess this will remain a mystery. Like so many things the royals do!
