Officers Save Unresponsive One-Year-Old Who Ingested Drugs, Police Say

Police in Fairfield, Alabama, said they rescued a one-year-old after she allegedly ingested illegal drugs and was unresponsive for over 30 minutes on October 25.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office released this footage of the incident, showing the moment officers arrived at the scene and found the child unconscious on the floor.

In a statement, police said a witness informed them the girl had ingested some illegal drugs, possibly fentanyl, leading them to use narcan to revive her.

After receiving this treatment, she began to breathe slowly, and was transported to a children’s hospital where she was reported to be in a stable condition.

Police said the mother admitted that her daughter had accessed her drug paraphernalia, and was charged with chemical endangerment of a child and was held on a $15,000 bond. Credit: Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office via Storyful
