Officer wounded in Jan. 6 Capitol attack meets McCarthy

Fanone was joined by Officer Harry Dunn of the Capitol police force. Dunn, a Black officer, has said he endured racist abuse during the attack on the building by supporters of then-President Donald Trump.

House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday (June 24) created a new House committee to investigate the Jan. 6 attack, after Senate Republicans in May blocked an independent commission to probe the assault.

Fanone told media that he wanted more police officers "to come forward" about their experiences during the incident. Dunn said there was "a lot of passion" in the room when they met McCarthy, but he believes it was "received well."
