The coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has changed everyone's way of life, and while it can be easy to get down about the whole thing, folks are also managing to see the funny side.

The Office US executive producers Ben Silverman and Paul Lieberstein have decided the mine the comedy value of working from home and turn it into a sitcom.

"So many of us are jumping on daily Zoom meetings – for work and beyond," Silverman said to Deadline. "We are in a new normal and are personally navigating ways to remain connected and productive at work and in our home lives.

"With the brilliant Paul Lieberstein at the helm, we think we have a series that not only brings humour and comfort during this troubling time but will also be an inventive and enduring workplace comedy for years to come."

"Start with the office comedy, lose the office and you’re just left with comedy," Lieberstein added. "The math works."

The series will focus on a boss who, when faced with having to have his staff work from home, demands they are connected and working face-to-face all day long.

The comedy series will be made under Silverman's Propagate Content and the Big Breakfast Banner. Since finishing on The Office US, Lieberstein has worked on the series The Newsroom.
