Odd Couple Dog Friends Who Are So Close They 'Communicate Telepathically' Want a Home Together

The Bradshaw Animal Shelter is looking for a home for two dog friends who were found together as strays in Sacramento County, California

Stanley, a small 7-year-old dog, and Arthur, a large 4-year-old canine, don't look like twins, but the two are inseparable.

On March 10, the duo arrived at Bradshaw Animal Shelter in Sacramento County, California.

"Stanley and Arthur were two stray dogs who were found wandering around a neighborhood in Sacramento County by a concerned citizen who suspected that they had been abandoned. Fortunately, the citizen was able to approach the dogs, load them into their car, and bring them to our shelter," Luna Anona, the public information officer for Sacramento County Animal Care Services and Bradshaw Animal Shelter, tells PEOPLE.

As soon as the dogs moved in, it was clear that they were close pals and friendly canines overall.

"They are so funny together because they couldn't look less alike, and yet, they're so familiar with one another that it's like they communicate telepathically — they always seem to know what the other one is thinking," Anona adds.

Recognizing the bond between the pooches, Bradshaw Animal Shelter set the dogs up as roommates. The canine odd couple likes to spend their days lounging together, going on walks, playing in the yard, and people-watching. As much as the shelter adores watching the cute friends, it hopes to find a home for the dogs where they can continue doing their favorite things together.

Anona says both dogs are "very friendly" and are "healthy overall."

"They no longer have the home or the people that they were familiar with, and so, at this point, all they have is each other. The shelter can be a really scary place for many dogs, but they've been doing well so far, probably because they have that familiar face with them. If they can stay together, the transition to their new happy ending will be that much easier for them," she adds.

Plus, whoever adopts the pups will get to enjoy watching the two be "adorable and hilarious together."

"We really think their new adopter will be in for so much fun and love!" Anona says.

The Bradshaw Animal Shelter believes the dogs could do well in separate homes but wants to keep the friends in the same place.

"If we can keep them together, that's what we would love to be able to do for them," Anona explains. The Bradshaw Animal Shelter made a TikTok post about the pair to encourage their adoption, and as of March 22, the post had received over 91,000 views.

"We always say that the ideal adopter for any pet is simply someone with an open heart and an open mind. Anyone who wants to open their heart to this unlikely duo is an adopter that we'd love to introduce them to," she adds.

The shelter hasn't observed Arthur and Stanley around children, so it encourages families to bring every member to meet-and-greets with the dogs, including other canines in the household.

"They like a little bit of adventure, but they're mellow guys who are just looking for a comfy couch and some love. Between our staff and volunteers, they have quite the fan club here at the shelter. We just know that if someone comes to meet them, they're going to steal their heart!" Anona says of the "sweet, silly dogs."
