O-Town's Dan Miller Shares the Not-Safe-for-Work Story of the Moment He Knew the Band Had Made It
Miller told the hilarious tale while on a panel about boy bands at 90s Con 2024 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The boy band O-Town had a built-in fanbase thanks to their rise on MTV's Making the Band in 2000. But it was in a football stadium bathroom where band member Dan Miller says he really knew the group was famous.
Speaking alongside bandmates Jacob Underwood, Erik-Michael Estrada and Trevor Penick (plus Joey Fatone) on a panel at 90s Con 2024 in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Saturday, Sept. 14, Miller, 44, recalled a festival the group was performing in at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.
"I was going to the bathroom," he shared, "and Jennifer Love Hewitt walked into the bathroom while I was handling my business and said, 'Oh hi Dan.' She knew who I was!"
"There were all these levels — we're at the Rose Bowl, really hot celebs know who I am, I've made it!" he continued, adding with a nod to an O-Town hit, "It was a true liquid dream."

O-Town released their self-titled debut album in 2001, and went on to win a Teen Choice Award and open for Britney Spears on tour. But after the release of their second album, O2, in 2002, they parted ways in 2003. In 2011, Underwood, Estrada and Penick reunited without their fifth bandmate, Ashley Parker Angel, who had by then gone on to pursue solo projects and Broadway roles.
By 2014, the four remaining members were touring and making new music again, most recently joining Chris Kirkpatrick, BBMak, LFO and Ryan Cabrera on the Pop 2000 tour, which is currently running.
"It's amazing," Miller told PEOPLE on the red carpet at 90s Con the day prior to the panel. "We kind of live that life all the time."
"The connection is different," Penick, 44, added of interacting with audiences now. "Back in the day it was like, ahh! Now it's more conversational. More of a connection."
Estrada, 44, said he can't believe how quickly the band's 25 years together have flown.

"We see pictures of us with fans and we're literally holding them in our arms. Then they come to the shows now and have kids of their own," he shared. "It's sort of a weird moment, like I've been on this planet for a long time."
The fact they're still touring, Underwood, 44, added, "we don't take for granted. [Audiences] keep coming and we're not stopping."
However, Miller added with a laugh, "It physically feels different! We have to stretch before and after. I'm more winded than I was."
