NWS Surveys Coastal Damage in Corpus Christi From Hurricane Hanna

Hurricane Hanna caused beach erosion and damaged a pier in Corpus Christi, Texas, when it hit on July 25, as this video from a Coast Guard helicopter makes clear.

The video was released by the National Weather Service after meteorologists took a survey trip with the Coast Guard along the Middle Texas Coast.

“The powerful storm surge resulted in drastic beach erosion as well as severe damage to Bob Hall Pier,” the service said.

Officials told KRIS Corpus Christi that they would rebuild the pier. “It’s going to take a strategy of federal, state, and local partners; I know we can do it,” said Nueces County judge Barbara Canales. Credit: US National Weather Service Corpus Christi Texas via Storyful
