JOHOR BARU, Aug 11 — With less than 24 hours before polling day in six states, Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed today cautioned voters not to be deceived by Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) promises of a clean and stable administration.

The Umno supreme council member told voters in Selangor, Penang and Negeri Sembilan to maintain the existing Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional (PH-BN) governments which he said have proven track records.

“With them, your respective states are better developed, the people's welfare is protected and Islam is still preserved. So, don’t gamble away the many things that you now enjoy by falling for the false promises of a clean and stable government,” he said in a statement.

Nur Jazlan, who is also the Pulai Umno chief, said PN will act differently once it is given the chance to be in power — pointing to the previous Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin administration.

The former Pulai MP and deputy minister also warned the public to be wary of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s partner PAS, claiming that the Islamist party‘s religious personalities will usually be tasked with covering up any shortcomings using the Quran and hadith to their advantage.

“Of course, PAS’ work to assist their PN partners is not free and comes with a price.

“This is evident in last year’s general election where PAS was said to have spent a lot of money for their campaign,” he said

On the state elections, Nur Jazlan said that PN can be seen using pro-Malay agenda and Muslim sentiments this time in reaching out to their voters.

“In fact, it is PN themselves that are afraid because there are winds of change and a rebellion among the people in Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah,” he said, commenting on rumours of a “green wave” sweeping Selangor, Penang and Negeri Sembilan.

Six states will hold their elections tomorrow.
