A man from Nunavut reported missing in Winnipeg last week has been found dead, police say.

No foul play is suspected after Johnny Arragutainaq, 24, was found dead, Winnipeg police said in an update Tuesday afternoon.

Police didn't say how he died or where his body was found.

The police service's missing persons unit continues to investigate, the update said.

Police said Saturday that Arragutainaq had last been seen in the city's Polo Park area on July 3, and had not been heard from since.

His mother, Alicie Arragutainaq, told CBC on the weekend that the family had been in Winnipeg from Sanikiluaq, Nunavut, since March because of a family member's medical needs.

She said Johnny had been to Winnipeg many times, but he had never gone missing before.
