There's no competing with Blue Ivy Carter's ever-growing résumé.

Today, it was revealed that Beyoncé and Jay-Z's eight-year-old daughter recorded the new Amazon Audible narration of the hit children's book Hair Love by author Matthew A. Cherry. Based on the original award-winning short film released last year (which also won the 2020 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film), the book has received well-deserved accolades for showcasing a positive perspective on young Black children learning to love and embrace their natural hair. Per the book's Audible page, Hair Love is "an ode to loving your natural hair―and a celebration of daddies and daughters everywhere."

Cherry announced the news with no introduction—because it's Blue Ivy Carter after all—and simply shared a clip of Blue introducing the book and teasing her narration of the children's story.

"Dreamscape presents Hair Love, by Matthew A. Cherry, narrated by Blue Ivy Carter," says Blue at the beginning of the clip in her cute and confident tone, utterly aware of her infinite influence as an eight-year-old.

Fans were quick to react to the surprise news, elated to see Blue collaborate with the Oscar-winning director and author.

Blue's new stint as a narrator isn't her first impressive feat, however. Back in February, she won an NAACP Image Award alongside her mother, Beyoncé, for their work together on the song "Brown Skin Girl" from the singer's 2019 project The Lion King: The Gift.

You can listen to the audio edition of Matthew A. Cherry’s story everywhere audiobooks are sold in the U.S. and Canada (Amazon, Audible, Google Play, and more). It’s also available free, to anyone with a valid library card, via digital library service hoopla digital.
