Nova Scotia's Largest Wildfire in Recorded History Prompts Evacuation Orders
Evacuation orders= were in place for parts of Shelburne County, on May 31, as the largest forest fire in Nova Scotia’s recorded history grew.
This footage released by the Nova Scotia Government, shows damage wrought by the Barrington Lake fire on Shelburne County, including a collapsed bridge between Clyde River and Port Clyde.
By Wednesday, the blaze had grown to 17,440 hectares (43,095 acres) and according to local news outlets, had destroyed dozens of homes.
Shelburne County East Emergency Management said that more than 70 Department of Natural Resources and Renewables staff, over 40 volunteer firefighters, one helicopter, two water bombers and eight airplanes have been deployed in response to the fire. Credit: Nova Scotia Government via Storyful
