Norwegian Royal Family Member, 27, Now Being Investigated Over 3 Alleged Sex Crimes: Police
Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, has been accused of a third alleged sexual offense, Oslo police said
The son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway is being investigated over another alleged sex crime.
On Wednesday, Nov. 27, the Oslo Police District confirmed Marius Borg Høiby — the royal's 27-year-old son from before her marriage to Crown Prince Haakon — had been released from custody, but added that officers were investigating a third alleged sexual offense.
"An investigation has been launched into a further matter relating to sexual offenses," police said, per the translated news release.
"The accused has been banned from visiting two women," authorities said, adding that this was in addition to the August incident in the borough of Frogner, which saw Høiby be arrested and face charges including bodily harm and damage following a "violent incident," per a previous release. PEOPLE reported at the time that the incident allegedly involved a woman in her 20s, citing Norwegian outlet Se og Hør.
In Wednesday's release, police confirmed they had "conducted a significant number of witness interviews," but could "no longer see that there is a risk of evidence being tampered with," so had "decided not to request further detention" of Høiby after his Monday, Nov. 18 arrest.

According to Se og Hør, the third sexual offense case Høiby is facing allegedly took place in Tønsberg.
The update comes after PEOPLE reported that Høiby had been arrested on Nov. 18 on suspicion of violating the criminal code “which concerns sexual intercourse with someone who is unconscious or for other reasons unable to resist the act.”
“What police can say about the rape is that it concerns a sexual act without intercourse. The victim is said to have been unable to resist the act,” the release added at the time.
Following his August arrest, Høiby was held for 30 hours before being released, according to Se og Hør. The outlet stated he had reportedly "attacked” a woman in her 20s “psychologically and physically," and she was treated at a hospital for a concussion.

A Nov. 19 police release stated that during Høiby's latest arrest, he was in a car with the alleged victim from the August incident.
“The charge relates to another violation of a restraining order against the same victim. In addition, a report has been filed for violation of a restraining order and driving without a valid driver's license,” the release said.
Høiby is not in the line of succession to the Norwegian throne and he doesn't have a public role. In 2017, it was announced that he would lead a largely private life.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit said of the decision at the time, "Marius has always had a role that has been difficult to define in the public sphere. He is and will be an exceptionally important part of our family."
"Marius became a symbol of the unusual choice we made when we got married, at the same time, he will not carry public duties like his siblings,” she added.
Oslo Police District didn't immediately respond when contacted by PEOPLE. PEOPLE also reached out to the legal firm that the third victim's assistance lawyer, Lill Vassbotn, works for.
