North Koreans rally for new five-year plan

In a video provided by the North's official news agency KCNA, which cannot be independently verified by Reuters, Pyongyang City Youth Park Open-air Theatre was packed with young people waving North Korean flags and chanting slogans. It also showed youth marching down Pyongyang streets.

Last week, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un sacked his economy chief, who was only appointed last month, and denounced his cabinet for a lack of innovation in drafting goals for the new five-year economic plan.

The plan includes a long wish-list for expanding almost every category of industry, from metal and chemical production to coal-mining, tourism, modernized railways, and more public transit.
