Nora admits receiving marriage proposal

19 May – Following rumours that she has been courted by a well-known Malaysian politician, singer Datuk Nora Ariffin recently admitted that she did indeed receive a marriage proposal.

But it was not from the man everybody speculated.

The 48 year-old singer shared as much recently, saying, "I think it's time for me to announce that I have received a proposal. God willing, if everything is going smoothly, I will share about my special day with everybody."

As for rumours that the man in question is the current Minister of Federal Territories Tan Sri Annuar Musa, Nora vehemently denied this, saying that she doesn't understand how anybody would even think that.

"I have denied this a lot of times and so did he, but it seems that there are those who still don't believe it. That's why I think I need to announce [this]," she added.

As to what made up her mind about marrying again after losing her first husband, composer Johan Nawawi in 2017, Nora stated that she had thought much about it and has also received the blessings of her children.

"They told me that they will support any decision I make. They just want to see me happy," she said. "Even before he died, Johan told me that I should accept if there is any good man who wants to marry me."

Nora and Johan were married for 25 years prior to the latter's death due to a heart attack at the age of 52.
