‘No way back’ for ‘sulking’ Sancho at Man Utd after Chelsea snub transfer over ‘mindset’
There is “no way back” for Jadon Sancho at Manchester United following a “breakdown in trust” with Erik ten Hag, according to ESPN reporter Mark Ogden.
Ten Hag left the Man Utd winger out of his squad to face Arsenal on Sunday with two injury-time goals from Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard condemning the Red Devils to a 3-1 loss at the Emirates Stadium.
And Ten Hag revealed after the match that Sancho had been left out of the squad due to his poor levels of performance in training.
“Jadon, on his performances in training we did not select him,” Ten Hag said after the defeat to Arsenal.
“You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices in the front line. So for this game he was not selected.”
But Sancho hit back at those claims on X: “Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week.

“I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, l’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair! “All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team.
“I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and (am) grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge.
“I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!”
And ESPN journalist Ogden can’t see a way back for Sancho at Man Utd with a resolution requiring one of the two parties to back down.
Ogden said on ESPN: “United were prepared to let Sancho go and there was some suggestions there was interest in him last week, which he wasn’t open to accepting. So if United found him a club and he wasn’t willing to go, then Ten Hag would be unhappy about that.
“It was September 3 yesterday [when Ten Hag commented on Sancho’s training performance] and the window has just closed, you’ve got a player you can’t shift until January, unless he goes to Turkey or Saudi Arabia. Neither seem an option.
“So, for me, there’s no way back for Sancho because he’s completely defied his manager and gone against him, publicly. How does Ten Hag bring him back in when there’s clearly a breakdown in trust there?
“So you’ve not got three or four months of this player sulking, I guess, because he’s not been picked and Ten Hag sticking to his guns. I don’t see who backs down here.
“Sancho has come out and said what he’s said, Ten Hag isn’t going to back down. If he backs down having criticised Rashford and Ronaldo publicly in the past, it’s a sign of weakness on his part. So I see no way back for Sancho.”
The Daily Mail claim that Chelsea ‘considered signing Sancho this summer but were concerned about his mindset’ while England boss Gareth Southgate ‘and his coaching staff have spoken about the problem of Sancho sulking when he is not selected in the line-up and the negative impact it can have on the atmosphere in camp’.
