Journalist Patrick Berger believes Borussia Dortmund’s whopping €150million valuation of Jude Bellingham “could be a pain barrier”.

There is plenty of interest in the England teenager, with Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester City the current frontrunners.

Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Bayern Munich have also been linked with the midfielder but are not thought to be amongst the favourites.

Dortmund are patiently waiting for Bellingham to make a decision on his future.

This has been the case for several weeks, but the 19-year-old is yet to decide if he wants to stay with the Bundesliga outfit.

Dortmund are very keen to renew Bellingham’s contract, even though they will receive well over €100m should they sell him.

The club’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl recently told Kicker: “There are no offers at all for Jude.

“We will speak to Jude and his family, no pressure — there are absolutely no proposals.”

This suggests that clubs are aware it will be very difficult to acquire the player in the winter transfer window and are waiting to make a move in the summer.

Furthermore, there is a lot of work being done behind the scenes with Bellingham’s family and representatives needing to be convinced.

This means should the likes of Arsenal decide they want to sign Bellingham, they will be very far behind Liverpool and Real Madrid, who have been negotiating for months.

Patrick Berger has confirmed that the Dortmund talisman is yet to make a decision on his future.

The German giants ‘want’ Bellingham to stay but value him at €150m (£133m), which could be a huge stumbling block.

Dortmund are eager to extend his contract and make him their ‘top earner’, but want to know what Bellingham intends to do before offering him fresh terms.

If he says he would be open to staying, BVB will make a huge contract offer.

Liverpool really need a new midfielder, or two, and are expected to make a bid for Bellingham soon.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently ninth in the Premier League and face an uphill battle to qualify for the Champions League.

Defeat at Brighton on Saturday was another indication that Klopp needs to improve his squad in the January transfer window.

Bringing in a new midfielder is a must with their current crop of playmakers struggling with injuries, or struggling to play at the required level.

The Reds have also been linked with Fiorentina and Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, and were believed to be interested in AC Milan’s Ismael Bennacer, who has just penned a new contract.
