'No Known Loss' of Yosemite's Giant Sequoias Due to Washburn Fire, Authorities Say

According to Yosemite Fire and Aviation Management, there was no known loss of any of the giant sequoias in Mariposa Grove due to the Washburn fire that started on Thursday, July 7.

The team attributed the minimal fire impacts on the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias to ongoing proactive efforts, including prescribed burning and an effective fire management and fuels reduction program.
