Nick Viall Talks 'Challenge' of Postpartum Sex with Fiancée Natalie Joy: ‘Logistically Hard’
The couple welcomed their daughter, River Rose, in February
Nick Viall and Natalie Joy recently upgraded from fiancées to parents when they welcomed their daughter, River Rose, in February, but that hasn’t stopped them from keeping the intimacy alive.
On the April 18 episode of The Viall Files, the couple talked about the "challenge" that is postpartum sex.
"It is just logistically hard," Viall, 43, said as he and Joy, 25, reflected on juggling their 10-week-old daughter as well as navigating a new physical dynamic.
"You have this little baby and it's an angel, there's that, and she's like, obviously always by our side," Viall explained. "Prior to that, we had Natalie's mom [staying with us], and the best we could have done would've been like, 'Here, we're gonna go into the bedroom.' That feels odd, you know?"
The former Bachelor star said he and his fiancée haven't gotten "that comfortable" with Joy's mom quite yet to deposit River with her to secure some alone time.
Speaking about how they've been navigating their intimacy, he said, "The spirit is there, but logistically... We haven’t quite cracked that code.”
While there have been some challenges, Viall reassured Joy — who he proposed to in January 2023 — that things have "not really" changed for him since she gave birth.
She recalled a quote from Scott Disick, who once compared postpartum sex with Kourtney Kardashian to being in "the same living room, the furniture was just rearranged."
"I wouldn’t say that," Viall said, before Joy sought explicit clarification as she asked, "I’m talking about the inside of my vagina. Is the furniture moved around?"
"Not really no," he said. "And by not really, I mean no."
"I’ll be honest, I wasn’t really sure but I was just like, ‘Like old times!’ ” he admitted.

The couple also shared a memorable comment made by Joy's doctor shortly after she gave birth.
"Literally right after River was born, Natalie’s doctor high-fived me," Viall said.
Joy jumped in, "She said I had a great pelvic floor."
"I didn’t know what that means, but she said I was a ‘lucky man’ and then gave me a fist bump," Viall added.

Over the weekend at Coachella, Viall talked to PEOPLE about fatherhood as he admitted it's given him "even more meaning and more purpose" in life.
"And it's hard to be mad for any long period of time, knowing I get to go home to my daughter and raise her," he said. "And I love everything about fatherhood, so I wouldn't change a thing."
Viall continued, "It's only added to my life. It has only added more meaning and purpose and wonderful moments. I truly feel like I'm living the dream and it's been an incredibly fulfilling experience."
