Nicholas Tse misses Benny Chan at "Raging Fire" premiere
15 Jun – Nicholas Tse recently admitted that he does feel a bit lost since the death of director Benny Chan, whom he regarded as his mentor.
As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who appeared alongside co-star Donnie Yen in Shanghai to promote Benny's last film, "Raging Fire", shared that he has worked with the late director since he was just 19.
"I starred in "Gen-X Cops" when I was still very young. We travelled a lot together and accumulated a lot of trust, so I would always bet my life on his movies and his shots. Now that he is gone, I don't know which director will I have such similar camaraderie with," he said.
He also expressed his confidence that "Raging Fire" will be a model of a great action film.
"It has been many years since an action film with such heavy Hong Kong flavour like this one has appeared. It is such a rarity and of great importance," he said.
Nicholas also stated that he enjoyed filming the movie as he was given a chance to have a physical fight with Donnie Yen.
"When we did "Dragon Tiger Gate", he played my brother instead of an opponent, so this time I got my wish," he added.
Director Benny Chan passed away in August last year after a year of battling cancer. He was 58.
