Giants rookie Kadarius Toney apologizes for punch during breakout game vs. Cowboys

New York Giants wide receiver Kadarius Toney apologized Monday for throwing a punch and being ejected for it in the fourth quarter of a 44-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys

The incident occurred late in the blowout loss. The rookie appeared to be defending teammate Evan Engram, who was in the middle of a scrum, and swung a punch that landed on safety Damontae Kazee

"Wanna take the time out to apologize to the entire organization, owners, my teammates and the entire Big Blue," he wrote in a tweet."...your emotions just can get the best of you sometimes .... No excuses just actions."

Toney will reportedly not be suspended, but the league will review it for a potential fine, per Ian Rapoport at NFL Network. Giants head coach Joe Judge was asked about the incident after the game Sunday.

""Look, there's a pretty distinct line in terms of competing and doing the things we're not going to condone as a team that put us behind," Judge told reporters. "That's not going to be accepted. It's not going to be condoned. That's as far as I'm going to go with that. Obviously, it resulted in him leaving the game and I'm just going to leave it at that right now."

Toney's actions marred his breakout performance of 10 catches for 189 yards. He became the first Giants rookie with 10 catches and 175 yards in a game since Odell Beckham Jr. did it in 2014. It also comes at a time when another loss to the offense would be detrimental.

Wide receiver Kenny Golladay exited the loss at halftime with a hyperextended knee, running back Saquon Barkley left with an ankle injury and quarterback Daniel Jones suffered a concussion
