Newsflash: You Can Live in the Toronto Home Meghan Markle Rented While Filming ‘Suits’
We have good and bad news for aspirants to the royal lifestyle, and, obviously, the bad news comes first. While you can't cohabitate with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in their stunning, nine-bedroom Montecito estate, you can, indeed, live in the Toronto home that Meghan once rented out—the very same one from which she moved directly into the Kensington Palace!
10 Yarmouth Road hit the market about a week ago, with an asking price of $1.4 million (the listing is held by Daniel Todd Freeman of Freeman Real Estate Ltd.). The Duchess of Sussex called the three-bedroom, two-bathroom digs home while filming the hit TV show Suits from 2011 to 2017—during which time she shared it with her two dogs and received frequent, "under the radar" visits from Prince Harry, per Realtor.com.
“Meg was excited to show me her life, her dogs, her little house, which she adored,” he wrote in the memoir Spare.
And what's there not to adore? The two-story property is in a tranquil neighborhood called Seaton Village and benefits from special touches like an A-frame roof; a rustic front porch equipped with a Tiffany Blue front door; spa-inspired bathrooms; a detached, two-car garage; and an eat-in chef's kitchen (glossy white cabinets; sleek appliances) with direct access to a lush backyard, which offers tons of shrubbery-powered privacy, an outdoor dining set, and a handy grill.
If you feel that the two-story home is too small for your royal-adjacent lifestyle, the listing does mentions does the possibility of converting the garage into a 1,330-square-foot guest house.
The interior spaces are subdued, but maybe that's the point. One can only assume that Meghan found a special kind of peace in the whitewashed walls, skylight, modern living room with its neutral color palette, and other elements of the Toronto abode. This kind of peace likely came in handy when news first leaked that the then-actor started dating Prince Harry, circa fall of 2016. A year before, Meghan spoke out about how grateful she was for the relative anonymity the home's location provided. “It’s really funny because I think as much of a big city as Toronto is, it’s so different from LA or New York. There [are] no paparazzi so it’s really easy to just have a normal life," she said in 2015, according to The Standard.
Living Room
The living room boasts a grey color scheme with bold touches in the form of faux plants and cushions.
Kitchen
Considering the fact that Meghan has an upcoming Netflix cooking show, it's easy to imagine her effortlessly whipping up meals in this functional yet stylish kitchen.
Dining Room
Nothing in the home, dining room included, feels oppressive or show-offy.
Bedroom
Pictured here is one of the home's three bedrooms—which all get ample sun exposure and benefit from a tastefully toned-down color palette.
Bathroom
The Toronto abode has two spa-inspired bathrooms—a refreshingly manageable number.
Backyard
With this kind of backyard, you'll get a dose of privacy with a healthy serving of lush greenery.
In short? This is one history-packed real estate listing... the history of the Duke and Duchess's dating journey, that is. If only walls could talk!
