ADAM SHAPIRO: News on the Move. Former vice president Walter Mondale died in his sleep yesterday. He was 93 years old. Mondale served as vice president under President Jimmy Carter. He ran an unsuccessful campaign for president back in '84, losing to then incumbent Ronald Reagan. Mondale spoke with Jimmy Carter over the weekend, as well as President Biden and his wife, Jill. Mondale also sent a farewell message to his former staff.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk says the autopilot was not involved in the deadly crash last weekend in Texas. Two men died when their 2019 Tesla Model S crashed into a tree. Police say there was nobody in the driver's seat at the time of the crash. Reuters reports police in Texas will issue warrants demanding Tesla turn over data that may be related to that crash.

And the long-running partnership between Nike and Kobe Bryant is coming to an end after Bryant's estate and Nike failed to negotiate a new deal. Nike issued a statement saying, though our contractual relationship has ended, he remains a deeply loved member of the Nike family. Bryant's wife Vanessa issued a statement saying, I was hoping to forge a lifelong partnership with Nike that reflects my husband's legacy. Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gigi died last year in a helicopter crash. Seana.
