For Kansas couple Trapper and MaKayla Shore, starting out their marriage with storm clouds just made sense.

The 18-year-old newlyweds recently tied the knot in Viola, where they spent the day snapping photos with their wedding photographer, Ashley Patton. At the start of their photo shoot, the day was hot and sunny, but the storm clouds soon rolled in, Trapper told Fox 10 Phoenix.

With a thunderstorm looming, Patton jumped into action and had the couple pose in the middle of the road as Trapper's brother started his Mustang behind them. The car created a smoky backdrop that only accentuated the dramatic atmosphere as the newlyweds wrapped their arms around each other in one shot.

For MaKayla, the dramatic wedding photos felt like a metaphor for her new life as a military wife to Trapper, who is in the U.S. Air Force.

"Being a military wife, the stormy photos represent what challenges we will face as a couple, but we will have those because the day started out great, turned stormy, then cleared up and was a great night," MaKayla said.

For her part, Patton told the outlet that Mother Nature did all the heavy-lifting, leaving her with little editing to do.

"The way that the wind blew and the way that the car was sitting behind us... the layout was perfect," she said.

The photographer also spoke to local channel KAKE about the unforgettable wedding shoot.

"I uploaded them on my computer. I mean, it took little to no editing at all," she shared. "The sky did everything ... and the Mustang, the backlight did everything for us."

The best part of all? The couple got to enjoy the background without experiencing the actual storm. “It only really sprinkled here,” MaKayla told KAKE. “The storms all passed us that way so we stayed."

Patton added that the lack of rain is part of what makes the photographs so intriguing.

"There's a beautiful storm in the background, and it's not raining a single drop," Patton said to Fox 10 Phoenix. She went on to add that "the uniqueness" of the photos has people around the world asking, "How is this real?"
