Newcastle have seen their transfer budget ‘significantly improved’ after qualifying for the Champions League and a £110m triple raid on Man Utd, Arsenal and Leicester is taking shape, per reports.

The Magpies will grace the UCL for the first time since 2003 next season. As such, the i newspaper reports Eddie Howe will see his summer transfer budget greatly increased, while the club’s appeal with key targets will also be enhanced.

Newcastle are understood to be targeting Premier League-proven players who will ensure they are able to juggle the rigours of challenging on two fronts. The last thing Newcastle need is for their UCL campaign to derail their progress on the domestic scene.

The i state Newcastle had drafted three separate shortlists of transfer targets that hinged on where they finished in the table.

Different collections of names were collated depending on if they qualified for the UCL, were made to settle for Europa League/Europa Conference League, or missed out on Europe entirely.

With UCL qualification now secured, Newcastle are free to pursue their highest profile targets and the i state the summer splurge will begin with Kieran Tierney and James Maddison.

Arsenal left-back Tierney, 25, can reportedly be signed for around £30m and the Gunners will listen to offers for the Scotland international.

The arrival of Ukraine ace Oleksandr Zinchenko pushed Tierney down the pecking order. A move to Newcastle would see him compete with Dan Burn and Matt Targett and also allow Burn to revert to providing cover at centre-half.

Maddison, meanwhile, is a long-term Newcastle target having been chased by the club in each of the previous two windows.

Leicester rejected multiple bids from Newcastle last summer, with the highest totalling £50m, per Sky Sports.

A winter window enquiry also fell on deaf ears, but the story may be different this time around.

Maddison won’t sign a new contract at Leicester and as such, the Foxes must cash in at season’s end or run the risk of losing their most valuable asset for free. Maddison’s deal expires in the summer of 2024.

Given Maddison won’t put pen to paper on fresh terms, Leicester are expected to sell even if they avoid relegation.

Man Utd raid to complete the set?

The final move being touted involves Man Utd midfielder, Scott McTominay.

Eddie Howe is a huge admirer of the Scot’s ball-carrying ability and athleticism and hopes his inclusion at the base of a midfield three will free up Bruno Guimaraes to assume a box-to-box role.

The Manchester Evening News reported Man Utd will entertain offers to the tune of £30m for McTominay. The Sun declared the holding midfielder could be among two causalities if Mason Mount is plucked from Chelsea.

Tierney (£30m), Maddison (£50m) and McTominay (£30m) could cost a combined £110m to sign. However, it may prove to be money well spent given all three are in their primes and all are proven in the Premier League.

Tierney and McTominay also have extensive European experience – something Newcastle’s squad currently lacks.
