'Never Seen the Subway So Empty Before': Train Station Deserted as Toronto Shuts Down

Toronto’s subway system was all but deserted on March 17 in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

This footage, posted by Twitter user @dasuni98_, shows the Pioneer Village subway station and a train almost completely empty on Tuesday. “Never seen the subway so empty before,” @dasuni98_ said.

Toronto Mayor John Tory this week announced further closures of non-essential city services. As of Wednesday, Toronto Public Health said there had been 108 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the city. Credit: @dasuni98_ via Storyful
