“Thanks to everyone who made this upcoming season possible. This has all been pretty surreal,” Ortega wrote.

“We can’t wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky, spooky world of Nevermore,” showrunners Miles Millar and Alfred Gough said in a statement.

“It’s been incredible to create a show that’s connected with people across the world, we’re thrilled to continue Wednesday’s torturous journey into Season two.”

Wednesday is a supernatural comedy series that follows the misadventures of Wednesday Addams (played by Ortega) as she unravels a murder spree whilst making new friends at Nevermore Academy.

The show is based on The Addams Family series of characters created by Charles Addams with renowned filmmaker Tim Burton directing four out of the eight episodes.

The Netflix series broke the record for the most hours viewed in a single week twice, with the first gaining 341.23 million hours viewed and it's second reaching 411.29 million hours viewed.

Wednesday has also become a TikTok phenomenon as millions of creators attempted to recreate her look, with even pop star Lady Gaga joining the Bloody Mary dance trend.

The first season of Wednesday is available to stream on Netflix.
