Netflix Employees and Supporters Hold Walkout to Demand Reforms For Trans Community

Employees at Netflix staged a walkout outside one of the streaming service’s offices in Los Angeles, California, on October 20, in protest of the company’s handling of Dave Chappelle’s new comedy special, which has been criticized as transphobic.

The employees were joined by sympathizers advocating for reforms including investment in trans talent and creators.

Protesters also spoke against Chappelle’s special, The Closer.

The walkout, originally set to take place at Netflix’s Epic building, was relocated to Vine Street to accommodate more people.

This footage filmed by Twitter user @hansenbursic shows a crowd holding signs and flags while chanting “Trans lives matter” and “Black lives matter.”

Protesters were seen clashing with supporters of Chappelle who attempted to interrupt the walkout, local media reported. Credit: @hansenbursic via Storyful
