Netflix Cancels Rob Lowe's 'Unstable' After Two Seasons
Netflix has cancelled Rob Lowe's comedy series Unstable after two seasons.
The show starred the actor and his son John Owen Lowe, and they also created and executive-produced it. It follows a young man who starts working for his eccentric and narcissistic father's company to keep an eye on him.
Deadline broke the news of the axe and reports that those who worked on the show were expecting that outcome, as season 2 did not break into Netflix's top 10 upon its release in August.
In fact, producers had allegedly been looking for a new home for a show on the down low before the axe was confirmed. Due to various issues, a more traditional network is being targeted as opposed to another streamer. The Fox network, which airs Rob Lowe's successful drama 9-1-1: Lone Star and game show The Floor, has apparently turned down the show.
The publication also states that Girls5eva, which Netflix picked up after Peacock axed it, is unlikely to return for a fourth season after season 3 (its first in its new home) didn't break the top 10 either. It is noted that the season did nab two Emmy nominations, though.
Speaking of 9-1-1: Lone Star, it was recently announced that the upcoming fifth season is set to be its last.
"In our final season of the show, we're set to give it the high-stakes send-off it deserves, complete with breathless rescues, insurmountable odds and relatable personal struggles, thanks to our incomparable, stellar cast led by Rob Lowe and Gina Torres," Fox TV Network president Michael Thorn said.
