In a virtual press conference, Yahoo Lifestyle SEA learned from Seoul-based fashion designer Minju Kim that her namesake label tells stories and experiences that she’s gone through, with the fabric developed in-house to fit her ‘stories’. This could be inspiration from movies to computer games and letters from her friend. Kim launched her namesake brand in 2015 and was a semi-finalist in the LVMH Prize for young fashion designer.

Jia-Jia Zhu used to work as a buyer for jewelry at Bergdorf Goodman, that allowed her to dive deeply into the world of gems and where she learned how to build a jewelry business from the ground up. She spent a year in Bali to meditate and upon her return to New York, she started her namesake label JiaJia, a fine jewelry and crystal brand.

When Zhu was meditating with crystals, she received a vision that “we are all creators, and we are all designers of our own life. And that we're also connected with our earth, and it was just a very, very special time for me. Through (that experience) I wanted to share that message,” she shared.

The third brand Artclub is a progressive, sustainable brand created by founder Heidi Middleton, where both her art and fashion sit side by side. The Australian-based designer creates a natural dialogue between these two mediums, where both masculine and feminine energies are at play and strong modernist shapes sit amongst a muted palette. Middleton shared that each garment is numbered, for example, one out of 10, as a way to honour their makers.
