Nephew explains Claudine Barretto's hospitalisation
9 Jun - Cholo Barretto, nephew of actress Claudine Barretto, recently addressed queries about the latter's health situation, following Barretto's recent Instagram post about undergoing surgery.
As reported on ABS-CBN News, Cholo, who made a statement a day after Barretto's announcement, explained that his aunt has been having health problem since she was a child, which was caused by her irregular blood cells count.
"Her white blood cells are very high and her red blood cells are extremely low, which is why she is vulnerable to infection," he said.
Cholo explained that Barretto is undergoing surgery on her lower left leg, and asked for the public to pray for her immediate recovery. He also expressed hope that the media and fans will respect their family's privacy during this time.
On 6 June, Barretto posted a video on Instagram at St Luke's Medical Centre in Taguig City, saying, "Hi guys! [Operating room], here we go. Bye!"
The post came two weeks after her first hospitalisation, although the actress didn't specify the reason for her stay both times.
She was also hospitalised two months ago.
