Neighbours spoilers follow for UK-pace episodes on Channel 5.
Neighbours favourite Susan Kennedy loses her temper with Mackenzie Hargreaves next week, sparking concern for her wellbeing.
Susan (Jackie Woodburne) is struggling badly with the pressures of her current situation, still plagued by guilt over Finn Kelly's rampage and also feeling stressed over her niece Elly Conway being in prison.
Next week, Mackenzie (Georgie Stone) finds herself caught in the middle of Susan's situation when she innocently approaches her for some advice.
Mackenzie has some big decisions to make over her education, but she keeps catching headteacher Susan at the wrong moment when she tries to discuss it.
In the end, Susan uncharacteristically loses it with Mackenzie, urging the keen student to stop hassling her. She even accuses Mackenzie of being self-centred with her constant questions.
Susan immediately regrets her outburst, but it's already too late as scheming Claudia Watkins witnesses the whole thing.
Claudia wastes little time before turning up at the Kennedy house, telling Susan that it's obvious she's an unfit guardian for Elly's baby daughter Aster.
Although Claudia has been planning a custody bid for weeks, she uses the Mackenzie incident as an excuse for her actions and vows to take her to court.
The Kennedys go straight to Toadie Rebecchi for help and he promises that Claudia doesn't have a strong case against them. However, when they arrive for the custody hearing, they're shocked to realise that no-nonsense Sam Fitzgerald is Claudia's lawyer.
Toadie and the Rebecchis are thrown by Sam's presence, especially when she skilfully brings up the Kennedys' chequered history and shares revelations that nobody was expecting. It's clear to all that Claudia and Sam have been planning this for some time.
In the end, it's confirmed that Aster will be handed over to Claudia for the foreseeable future – another devastating loss for the Kennedy family.
Following the court's decision, Karl advises Susan that it's best to play along with Claudia and her restrictive visitation rules if they want to see Aster at all. Susan isn't so willing to cooperate, struggling to forgive Claudia for masking her true intentions for so long.
Susan does eventually take Karl's advice and smooths things over with Claudia, before opening up to Terese Willis about her ongoing struggles.
Mackenzie witnesses Susan's fragile moment and – putting aside the previous incident – kindly advises her that there's no shame in getting help. How will Susan react?
Neighbours airs these scenes in the week commencing Monday, May 18 at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5.
