The pair – who play Karl and Susan Kennedy on the soap – were due to be in Britain this week as part of the Neighbours: Live in Conversation plans in London.
However, plans have been cancelled over the coronavirus pandemic, the pair speaking about the last minute changes during a live link on this morning's (March 13) Good Morning Britain.
"As you know there have been some necessities for travel restrictions, a lot to do with insurance to be honest," Alan explained.
"And obviously Fremantle Media, who employ us on Neighbours, they've placed the safety of the cast and crew, and everyone in the building, at the highest level. At this stage we just had to be cautious."
Jackie added: "Obviously we're all very disappointed, but it's not a time to second guess the experts, so we've just got to stay put, unfortunately. But we send lots of love and really encourage you to get on board with this next week."
As well as the event's cancellation, the soap has also postponed filming in Ireland later this month for Alan and Jackie as part of a new storyline for their characters.
"Due to the current coronavirus situation and cautions around international travel, cast who were flying in from Australia will no longer be visiting the UK for the Neighbours 35th anniversary celebrations," a spokesperson for the show previously told Digital Spy.
"Whilst this is obviously very disappointing, the wellbeing of all our cast and crew is our utmost priority.
"Filming in Dublin with Alan and Jackie has therefore been cancelled for now. However, we love our UK and Irish audience and will definitely be back in the future."
Neighbours: Live in Conversation has confirmed that it plans to reschedule its event for a later date.
Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5 (UK) and 6.30pm on 10 Peach (Australia).
