Jason Donovan is such a good neighbour that he even puts out fires in his pants.

Let's clarify — the former Neighbours star didn't have a fire in his actual pants. After a surprise question on The One Show on Friday (June 26), he clarified how he'd recently put out a fire while in his underwear.

"I acted as any good neighbour would," he cheekily explained. "It was three o'clock in the morning. I'd just gone to sleep. I looked out window and the next door's house was on fire. I ran downstairs, assessed the situation."

Donovan then admitted: "I've been looking at my fire hydrants for years, just going, 'One day! One day! I'm gonna have you! I'm gonna pull that plug and just spray it everywhere!'

"That night, I got the opportunity, and I'm telling you, it was an incredible moment… not for the person having the fire."

"I'm just picturing Jason in his pants with the firehose," Alex Jones chimed in.

We won't be touching that one! Instead, we'll move along to the valuable lesson that Jason wanted to share without anyone in the public eye.

"I think the moral of the story is always be prepared for someone to take a photograph of you at any time, and wear your underwear when you go to bed because you don't know what you can expect," he joked.

Neighbours fans are probably hoping that Jason will eventually bring his firefighting skills back to Erinsborough to reprise his role as classic character Scott Robinson, especially now that his daughter Jemma Donovan has joined the cast as Harlow.

Asked recently about the possibility of her father making a Neighbours comeback, Jemma revealed: "It would be fun being on the same set with him, but also quite scary. I'm not sure if I'd be too keen on that. It would be weird working with my dad!" she shared.

"I think viewers would adore seeing Scott back on Ramsay Street – but I'm not too sure of the likelihood of it."

Erinsborough will probably need a vacancy in the fire department if Scott ever does show up!
