Neelofa's family sparks SOP violation controversy again
18 May – It is not easy being Neelofa, whose every move is being watched like a hawk by the public.
After being fined thousands of ringgit over the COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) violations at her wedding and her misuse of her business-related cross-border permission for leisurely purposes, then being caught crossing borders to buy carpets in Nilai 3, the actress and her family have yet again attracted attention for a possible SOP violation.
The latest in the celebrity's mishap comes from her sister, Noor Nabila, whose deleted video went viral. It showed members of Neelofa's family gathering together in one place during Eid - shaking hands and expressing apology as customary during the celebration.
Seen in the video were Neelofa and husband Haris Ismail, Neelofa's mother Noor Kartini and husband Abdul Halil Khan, Nabila's husband Engku Emran as well as his daughter Engku Aleesya.
Netizens who saw the video were apparently unhappy by the sight, with many asking whether the whole family are living together under one roof - seeing that the Aidil Fitri SOP has clearly prohibited house visits.
On the other hand, police recently stated that they have already received reports regarding the matter and is now investigating the case in accordance to Regulation 17 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2021.
Ampang Jaya District Police Chief, Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the incident was suspected to have taken place at Neelofa's residence in Hulu Kelang in Ampang, Selangor.
On the other hand, another actor Norman Hakim is also in trouble for making similar violations after posting photos of him and his family celebrating Eid with ex-wife Abby Abadi's side of the family. It was made worse by Abby herself, who admitted that they met each other during Eid after the two families had spent every other day together during the Ramadan month.
The District Police Chief admitted that the police has already received reports on the violation and will be investigating it.
